Building services systems comprise the systems necessary to ensure the basic operation and comfort of buildings or the proper functioning of technological processes (temperature, humidity, air quality). These systems provide heating, cooling, ventilation, water supply, sanitation, fire protection equipment (e.g. sprinklers).
Heating, cooling and ventilation (HVAC or buliding services)
HVAC systems are responsible for maintaining the right temperature and air quality in buildings. These systems include, but are not limited to, the following elements:
- Heating systems:
- Heat generators: condensing gas boilers, heat pumps (air-to-water, water-to-water, air-to-air)
- Heat emitters: radiators, underfloor heating, ceiling heating, fan-coil, in industrial environments gas radiant screens, thermoventilators
- Distribution piping, circulating pumps, fittings, regulating fittings, differential pressure stabilizing valves, expansion tanks, etc…
- Cooling systems: comfort cooling, process cooling.
- Heat generators: liquid chillers, heat pumps (air-to-water, water-to-water, air-to-air)
- Heat transmitters: fan-coil, ceiling cooling
- Distribution piping, circulating pumps, fittings, regulating fittings, differential pressure stabilizing valves, expansion tanks, etc…
- Ventilation system: ensuring comfort parameters, ensuring technological parameters, underground garage CO extraction, life safety ventilation (heat and smoke extraction, pressurised staircase)
- Equipment: central air handlers, fans, ducts, air filters and heat recovery
- Blower and exhaust elements: peripheral anemostats, slot nozzles, jet nozzles, grilles, etc…
- Distribution air duct network, control dampers, VAV, CAV valves, silencers
Water supply and sanitation
Water supply systems in buildings ensure that clean water is delivered to different points of use, such as taps, showers and toilets. In addition, the water supply systems also ensure the delivery of domestic hot water (DHW) to the points of use. Wastewater disposal systems drain used water and wastewater from the building so that it is treated in an environmentally friendly way by the utility companies.
- Hot and cold water supply systems:
- Water heaters: indirect heating tanks, electric water heaters
- Distribution network: drinking water certified piping system (inox, five-layer plastic, PPR), circulation pump, circulation control valves, drinking water expansion tanks
- Sewage and stormwater drainage systems:
- Sewer systems, sump pumps and treatment equipment (e.g. oil separators) for municipal sewage disposal.
- Technological sewerage systems, treatment plants (e.g. oil or grease separators)
